Māui & Hector’s Dolphin Defenders is the only charity in the world specifically dedicated to the preservation, protection and recovery of Māui and Hector’s dolphins.
Māui and Hector’s are the world’s smallest marine dolphin, and among the rarest dolphins in the world. Every dolphin life matters. With your help, we can protect them and their habitat. By protecting Māui and Hector’s dolphins, we also protect penguins like hoiho, sea lions and seals, and sea birds, as well as non-target, bycaught fish.
Every donation helps dolphins and more. We welcome regular or one-off donations. All donations over $5 are tax deductible.

Every donation / koha payment makes you a member of Māui & Hector’s Dolphin Defenders. By supporting us, we can produce information fliers and stickers that we send to groups, schools and individuals around the country. (Let us know if you’d like some). We also attend events, markets and festivals to raise awareness with your support. Donations help with paid advertising and campaign costs, including lobbying and engagement with decision makers in local and central government.
